Space Educator Award

About the Award

Each year the National Space Club Florida Committee recognizes one STEM educator who has made significant contributions to inspiring students to pursue their dreams of being part of the U.S. space program in Florida through engagement, impact, and community activities.

Nomination and Selection Guidelines

  • The nominee must be an educator for a public or private educational institution in the state of Florida.
    • Primary, Secondary, and Collegiate levels are all eligible.
  • The nominee must be actively involved in an area of STEM education for a minimum of five (5) years.
    • Space technology, engineering, aeronautics, or astronomy are preferred.
  • The following criteria are weighed heavily when nominations are reviewed:
    • Student Engagement and Impact
      • Demonstrated success mentoring students to pursue space-related fields
    • Real World Connection
      • Bringing current technology to the science classroom OR
      • Demonstrated excellence explaining complicated space concepts to an age-appropriate level
    • Professionalism and Community
      • Peer recognition for outstanding work as an educator
      • Outreach to other educators to expand the reach of space education
  • Any individual or organization may make a nomination.
    • Membership in the National Space Club Florida Committee is NOT REQUIRED to make a nomination OR to be a nominee.
  • Individuals who have previously received the NSCFL Space Educator Award are not eligible.
  • The Space Educator Award Committee reserves the right to seek out/provide additional nominations.

Nominations for this award are accepted from mid-April through June 30th. The award is presented each year during the Celebrate Space Awards Banquet.
