Congratulations to Boeing and United Launch Alliance (ULA) for an incredible launch this morning! ULA’s Atlas V rocket left Space Launch Complex 41 (Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida) at 6:36am EST carrying Boeing’s Starliner crew capsule.

Starliner is built to accommodate a crew of seven astronauts, but on this maiden test flight is carrying a mannequin named Rosie the Astronaut (named after Rosie the Riveter).

Here’s space.com’s replay of the launch

Unfortunately, the Starliner spacecraft won’t reach the International Space Station due to a timing issue with the Starliner’s own engine burn. Instead, the Starliner will be directed to land in White Sands, New Mexico, on Sunday.
