FloridaToday.com reported the launch as follows, “The second launch of 2025 was set to lift off the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 6 from Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex 40. After being delayed multiple times, and a burst of gloomy weather hovering over Brevard County, the rocket finally lifted off at the end of the launch window − 3:43 p.m..
The mission, known as Starlink 6-71, was a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launching the latest batch of 24 Starlink internet satellites. SpaceX had stated they had until 3:43 p.m. to launch, and weather held out for them to make that launch window. Weather at the launch and booster landing locations play a role in timing, and as of noon Monday, Brevard was seeing heavy wind gusts. SpaceX did not given an official reason for the initial delay.”
SpaceX.com reported, “This is the 17th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched Crew-5, CRS-28, Intelsat G-37, Optus-X, Immarsat I6-F2, GPS III-6, NG-20, and nine Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Just Read the Instructions droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.”
